GOP lawyer drafts Obama impeachment

A prominent libertarian constitutional lawyer and civil libertarian has drafted an article of impeachment against President Obama over his attack on Libya, throwing down a legal gauntlet that could be picked up by some Congressional Republicans
Bruce Fein, a former Reagan administration official in the Department of Justice and chairman of American Freedom Agenda writes in his 15-page argument of Obama’s course that “Barack Hussein Obama has mocked the rule of law, endangered the very existence of the Republic and the liberties of the people, and perpetrated an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor.”
Fein is a small-government conservative who worked on the impeachment of President Bill Clinton and also called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, and his work doesn’t represent the Republican Party line. But it comes as some Republicans on the Hill, led by Senator Rand Paul, object vociferously to Obama’s decision to strike targets in Libya without Congressional authorization.

Fury is building over rolling nationwide blackouts triggered by the Obama administration’s deliberate agenda to block the construction of new coal-fired plants, as local energy companies struggle to meet Americans’ power demands amidst some of the coldest weather seen in decades.

– Borderland residents have been asked to limit their use of natural gas as the Texas Gas Service asks that larger commercial facilities voluntarily close their doors to save supplies.
– People in Tucson have been asked to limit their use of hot water and moderate their thermostat levels to save on energy.
– Shortages of natural gas in San Diego County has forced utility companies to “cut or reduce the gas supplied to some of their largest commercial and industrial customers,” reports North County Times.
– In El Paso, “Hundreds of thousands of electricity customers continue to face periodic blackouts, and nearly 900 gas customers still have no heat,” reports the El Paso Times, with El Paso Electric resorting to using generators in a struggle to meet demand while still having to implement forced outages.

Israeli government seen accepting new settlement freeze
JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will probably win narrow approval from his coalition government for a U.S. proposal to extend a freeze on West Bank settlement building, Israeli political sources said Sunday.
The Palestinians halted peace talks after Israel’s 10-month partial construction moratorium expired in September. The Obama administration has offered Israel diplomatic and defense perks to renew the freeze for 90 days, giving negotiations a chance.
Netanyahu, who visited the United States last week, convened his cabinet to outline the proposal, which he said was still being drafted with the Americans. Once ready, it would be put to a vote in Israel’s 15-minister security cabinet, he said.
“In any event, I insist that any proposal meet the State of Israel’s security needs, both in the immediate term and vis-a-vis the threats that we will face in the coming decade,” Netanyahu said in remarks broadcast by Israeli media.
The deal includes a U.S. undertaking not to request further extensions of the freeze, and to shield Israel against hostile resolutions in the United Nations. The Palestinians have mooted seeking U.N. support for a unilateral statehood declaration.
The Obama administration would also ask Congress to approve giving Israel $3 billion worth of advanced F-35 jets. These would supplement the 20 F-35s Israel already plans to buy for $2.75 billion drawn from annual grants it gets from Washington.

Many people have heard of the website WikiLeaks, a document sharing website where anyone can contribute leaks of sensitive governmental, corporate, organizational, or religious documents anonymously. Its recent increase in popularity may be contributed in large part to the recent “leak” of classified documents from Afghanistan.
Despite the fact that the information is now available to the general public, the information is still classified. According to Executive Order 13526, section 1.1, paragraph 4, sub-section C, “classified information shall not be declassified automatically as a result of any unauthorized disclosure of identical or similar information.”
“We’re just trying to get the word out to everyone and prevent service members from ruining their careers over this,” said Michael Miglionico, the information assurance manager, Marine Corps Bases Japan. “Luckily so far we’ve had no reported incidences.”
Viewing or downloading these documents without the proper security clearance and authority can result in a variety of repercussions from non-judicial punishment to court martial, loss of clearance and denial of reenlistment.
“Many jobs require a clearance and if you lose that, you will have to be moved to another job, and you will probably be denied re-enlistment,” said Gunnery Sgt. Ruben Martinez, the information assurance chief for Marine Corps Bases Japan.
In addition to the personal ramifications, accessing WikiLeaks on a government computer, even out of pure curiosity, creates what is called “spillage,” Miglionico said. Cleaning up “spillage” takes a lot of IA man hours and even more government money.
While accessing the site from a personal computer may seem harmless, it is actually more detrimental to a service member’s career. Accessing WikiLeaks this way means there was an intent to seek out information that is above the persons clearance authority, and can often be a career ender.
“Just one Marine not being able to do their job hurts the whole shop,” Martinez said. “All because one person is curious.”
“Just because it is on the Internet does not mean it’s not classified,” said Miglionico.
Despite the site’s high visibility on the news, or your own curiosity, the information on WikiLeaks is still classified, and therefore cannot be viewed by unauthorized individuals.

NEW ORLEANS – BP’s work to cap its Gulf of Mexico gusher was in limbo Wednesday after the federal government raised concerns the operation could put damaging pressure on the busted well and make the leak worse.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the government didn’t want potentially dangerous pressure tests on a new, tighter cap that has been placed on the well to go ahead until BP answers questions about possible risks.
Gibbs said he did not consider the delay to be “some giant setback,” describing it as “a series of steps … that are being taken in order to ensure that what we’re doing is being done out of an abundance of caution to do no harm.”
A top BP executive said there was no guarantee the company will get approval to go ahead with closing the cap, which is meant to be a temporary fix until the well is plugged from underground. Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles told The Associated Press in an interview that BP is trying to resolve the government’s concerns.
“I don’t know whether we will get that approval or not,” Suttles said. “I hope we do.”
At the same time, BP on its own temporarily halted the drilling of two relief wells that are designed to plug the gusher permanently with cement and mud. That work was halted for up to 48 hours as a precaution because it’s not yet clear what effect the testing of the new cap could have on it, the company said.
The delays were a stunning setback after the oil giant finally seemed to be on track following nearly three months of failed attempts to stop the spill, which has sullied beaches from Florida to Texas and decimated the multibillion dollar fishing industry.

Without even reading the new law, Holder and the pro-amnesty Left are on the attack. And their reasons are clear…
The Obama team and pro-amnesty advocates are trying to label anyone who supports border security as
a racist, xenophobe or hate monger — and then use this platform to pass amnesty and rally their base in November.
Never mind that 70 percent of Arizona residents support the law, or the fact that as citizens we have a right to have
our borders secured. If the Left can succeed in framing the border issue in hate and xenophobia, they will have created
the political justification they need to pass amnesty while discrediting their political opponents in the upcoming election.
